Court crest and court details

If your judgment or decision requires a crest, we recommend using a PNG format. This is because it is web friendly format so will ensure the image appears in the web of the judgment.

Crest images should be on their own separate line in a judgment or decision. Styling issues can occur if positioned with text or other elements.

Example of a court crest with court details

Global Feedback Limited, R (on the application of) v Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs [2022] EWHC 3269 (Admin)

If we look at this judgment in Word, we can see that the crest has been placed in the centre of the page, between the court and the case number:

Court crest is centred in the MS Word document
This Word document example shows that the court crest has been placed centrally within the surrounding text.

The parser cannot process this kind of placement meaning that, when the judgment goes online, the positioning of all these elements goes awry:

Court crest is not centred in the MS Word web view
This example shows how the online version will format if the court crest logo is placed between the court and case number.
